Men’s League Season Pre-Season Discussion 2024 Season Update
Team Fees: Team Fees will be $3000 IF paid BEFORE first game. ➢ If Paid DURING season $3250. ➢ If paid POST season the rate will be $3750. It is in your best interest to pay early.
Drop In Option: Drop ins will be allowed. A drop-in fee of $20/game. BOTH teams must agree to the drop-in player(s). Teams will have to register their players on our new website. Anyone not registered, would be considered a drop-in player.
Disciplinary Action: RED cards are a one game ban. Two red cards for the same player in the same season, are a three-game ban.
Team Structure: League will start on Tuesday May 21st . United VS Cents and Gunners VS Dynamo. Teams are allowed a maximum of 23 players. Any teams that have too many players will be switched to a different team. If all teams have 23 and more players want to play, we will then bump the number of players once all teams have reached the 23 cap. If a game is postponed due to weather, both teams must find a date to reschedule the game within 24 hours by messaging Stefan or both teams take the loss. We are seeing if Dryden would like to join the league. This may result in some weekend games. TBC.
Tournament: Teams are allowed to have academy players play. If players are below 18, parents must sign a waiver. We want to improve Kenora’s youth and have them involved in the league later so we should not hinder the growth of the league. Out of town teams cannot be in Division 1. Teams must be in Division 2 or lower. Individual players can be from Division 1 or play ex professionally and play on a Division 2 team. A Division 2 team cannot have more than two Division 1 players. If a person has not played on the team before the tournament, they are allowed to play in the tournament if they pay a “tournament fee” of $20/game. Out-of-town team registration fees are $1000. Tournament will take place on Thursday July 18 – Sunday 21 weekend. The women’s league has agreed to combine the two tournaments. A League Social is being planned at the new “Brewers Village” to raise funds on the Saturday night. Shotgun Shootout will occur on the Friday night.
New Website: Jordan Spencer has been gracious enough to create a new website for the Men’s League. New players can contact the league via the website. The website will aim to have League Standings, Rosters, stats and show off our league sponsors and any tournament info.
Recording Games: We will be buying a VEO camera. (Look up VEO for more info https://www.veo.com/). This can be used on our website, promo material, and captures highlights. Red cards could also be reviewed after the match. The camera has AI technology to track the balls movement while capturing the whole field of play. Matches will be posted after the match. Since most games take place at 7:30, only one of the two games can be recorded.
Other Info: All-Star team could be considered to join tournaments that are out-of-town. There is one post season in Brandon that we could attend (need confirmation on that). The All-star team would be made of people willing to go as well as based on the stat tracking for the year. (Can help grow our tourney).
Referee/Linesman: Due to the desperate nature of requiring referees, each team must nominate two players (or more) from their team to be available to referee. Each team must find players to be linesman. Each team missing a linesman will be deducted one point per linesman missing (max 2 pts/game). Each team will have 3 strikes (games) before the point deduction takes effect. A referee course will be made for anyone who would like to take it prior to the start of the season. This will add confidence to newer refs while ensuring as much consistency as possible within the league. The total allotted for officials is $80. If both linesman show up, $50 to referee, and the remaining $30 is split between the linesman ($15 each). If only one linesman shows up, $65 to referee and $15 to the one linesman. If your team prefers, the $30 amount that goes to the linesman each game, can be taken off your team fee at the end of the season, meaning you could get up to $360 back in team fees (regular season). This amount will be deducted from the amount you owe in 2025. That does not mean the linesman gets $15 as well as the rebate, it would be instead of. This method is more team-oriented and not individual.
